7/27-7/29: “Iconic SF: Imagery on Stained Glass 3 Day Intensive” w/ visiting artist,Joseph Cavalier

Visiting artist Joseph Cavalieri returns sharing his signature imagery on stained glass techniques, this time with the focus of San Francisco icons. You will explore Joseph’s printmaking tactics applied to glass art, while personalizing and manipulating them. You’ll start by choosing an image or two from the choices of custom screens Joseph will bring, print onto your glass, then create an environment and border surrounding the image. Enamels are painted then kiln-polish-fired onto the surface of the glass, then the glass is soldered together. Techniques learned and practiced include airbrushing, pen-and-ink drawing, painting, and of course silk screening. A lecture on designing around the imagery will be covered. Let your imagination soar! Expect to make a 12-by-12 inch finished stained glass panel plus samples. Joseph will also demonstrate in class a quick and inexpensive way to frame and light stained glass panels. If you’ve taken Joseph’s class before, there is still more to learn from this innovative artist. His expertise with design, who is a wealth of information with showcasing and marketing his work.
