Join us for the month of October to view our newest gallery show "The Secret Life of Glass" featuring the magical work of Jane Kiskaddon. You will be pulled into the depths of these incredible multi-layer kiln cast works of art. Each one tells a story and takes you on a journey in it's own little universe, each with a life of its own. Enjoy the skill and imagination of an artist who has spent 48 years understanding how light and dark work together to make the most intriguing pieces and how well she translates this knowledge into glass!
Meet the Artist at our Reception and Glass Sale Event on Sunday, October 25, from 4-6pm.
Jane's Artist Statement:
In 2018, I took a glass fusing class at the Stained Glass Garden that changed the direction of my art. After 48 years as a landscape painter, I discovered that fused glass allowed me to bring those landscapes into three dimensions.
My approach to glass is much like my approach to painting: I begin with little or no plan and let the work evolve. Each layer is a response to the one before it. Some pieces contain as many as 12 layers of glass and make six trips through the kiln.
Because of the long kiln times and the gradual process of building each piece, a single work can take two to three weeks to complete. Fortunately, I still paint while I wait for the kiln.
