Join us for our next solo-artist show here at Stained Glass Garden featuring the talented and prolific Melanie Walsh. This show will be on display for the month of August, with an opening reception and glass sale on Saturday, August 1st from 4 - 6pm.
Melanie Walsh is a stained-glass artist based in the Bay area, California. Originally trained in oil painting, she transitioned to stained glass art during Covid 2020, venturing first into mosaics before moving into stained glass panels and 3D boxes. Her skills as an oil painter transitioned into texture, translucency and vivid colors now available in glass. Modern glass offers a whole new palette to play with!
Her current focus is Tiffany-styled lampshades, where she combines traditional copper foil techniques with original Tiffany-style patterns. More recently, she has progressed into designing her own lamp forms using 3D printing and engraving techniques, with custom mounted hardware and the artists own original patterns, with a future view of engraving other artists designs on their own lampshade forms. She has made over 30 lampshades in the past three years and for the second year running she teaches lampshade-making here at the Stained Glass Garden.
She is actively involved on social media to support other long-distance artist with lamp making skills, check her out on Facebook and Instagram: Crafted_with_Color!
